Farms near Auvers or Thatched Cottages by a Hill is an Oil Painting for sale by Vincent van Gogh that he painted in July 1890 when he lived in Auvers-sur-Oise, France. Famous Paintings Van Gogh spent the last few months of his life in Auvers-sur-Oise, a small town just north of Paris, after he left the asylum in Saint-Rémy in May 1890. Children Paintings Early June Van Gogh wrote to his sister: 'there are some roofs of mossy thatch here which are superb and of which I shall certainly make something'. Flower Paintings Raw canvas is visible in some parts of the work, indicating that Van Gogh never finished the painting before his death 29 July. Boats Paintings In 1933 the painting was bequeathed by C. Frank Stoop to the Tate Collection in London, where it currently resides.
